Eurointernational once again demonstrated its competitiveness in the third round of the 2026 European Le Mans Series at Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, recovering from a difficult starting position to finish just outside the podium in fourth place.
Starting from ninth on the grid, the #11 Ligier immediately began its recovery thanks to strong opening stints from Matthew Bell and Douwe Dedecker, whose pace and consistency allowed the team to climb steadily through the field and put itself in contention for victory.
By the time Max Van Der Snel took over for the final stint, Eurointernational had reached the front of the race and looked set to challenge for another podium finish. However, the closing stages proved particularly unfortunate. The timing of a Full Course Yellow, combined with a mechanical issue during the final pit stop, compromised the team’s strategy and dropped the car to fourth position.
Despite pushing until the chequered flag in the demanding summer conditions at Imola, Van Der Snel was unable to recover the lost ground, crossing the finish line in fourth place.
Reflecting on the race, the Dutch driver said: “Starting from P9, after great stints from my teammates Matthew Bell and Douwe Dedecker, we fought our way to P1. Unfortunately, we had bad luck during our last pit stop. Due to the timing of the Full Course Yellow and a mechanical failure, I rejoined the race in P4, which is also where we finished. It’s a bittersweet result to just miss out on a well-deserved podium for the team, especially in the heat of Imola. We will come back stronger at Spa.“
Although the final result did not fully reflect the pace shown throughout the race, Eurointernational once again proved to be among the frontrunners in the LMP3 field. The team now turns its attention to the next round at Spa-Francorchamps (21-23 August), determined to convert its speed and consistency into the result it deserves.
